If you've been waiting for news on the upcoming, next-gen game, Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you're in luck. And while it's not anything new gameplay-wise, it seems a handful of screenshots have emerged on a german site called GameStar (and reposted on ResetEra) and you can take a peek at a few of them further down.

It's been a while since we've heard any news on Lord of the Rings: Gollum, an action-adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment that was first announced back in March 2019. As the title suggests, instead of focusing on the hobbits from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the game will instead concentrate on Sméagol and follow his journey.

As far as gameplay goes, we know very little but it seems that the game is going to involve a lot of stealth gameplay. In an interview last year, Daedalic's CEO, Carsten Fichtelman said: "We are still discussing many things; we're even still discussing the graphics. It's our task to find out own vision of Middle Earth, which can't be the same as the movies.

"This shouldn't be too arty or artificial, as we also discussed how deep we should go into 'uncanny valley'. Since this is a game about Gollum, if you imagine gameplay, stealth is the obvious choice as opposed to combat with a sword," continues Fichtelman. "We would really like to find a solution that is timeless. As Lord of The Rings has now been out there for more than 60 years, we'd like to create this first game about Gollum that will stand out for the next 20-30 years."

vAnd while we don't know anything further about gameplay or a possible release date - other than it's due out sometime in 2021 - it's good to see some imagery to get an idea of how the game will look and what sort of atmosphere we might expect.

Taking on a game based on Lord of the Rings is no small undertaking. Aside from the popularity of the books, the movie trilogy casts another shadow. But Daedalic seem to be happy to take on the challenge. "As mentioned, we need to find our own interpretation of Middle Earth. Peter Jackson went to the same people 20 years ago as I did in 2014. We then had discussions for some years and finally acquired the license.

"Whatever happens [...] from now till the release in 2021, no one knows, but we need to find our own place in the universe and we only have good ideas for that."

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is due out sometime in 2021.

Iskreno, kao ogroman fan LOTR-a, Gollum izgleda debilno a ni orke nisu baš nešto. :)

Ali ako će biti nešto tipa skrivanje, sijene, sneaky, moglo bi biti dobro.

Prvo što sam pomislio kad sam vidio slike je baš ovo što si napisao. Pa zar nisu bolje mogli napraviti Golluma.

Gollum izgleda kao da je ispao iz spota : Gorillaz - Stylo

Razbacuju se pojmovima kao "next gen" i "uncanny valley", a igra im izgleda smiješno :D

Meni se to ništa ne sviđa. Osim grafike, ne vidim zašto ići u smjeru Golluma.

Jer ne kužim koncept priče. Svi znamo tko je i što je Gollum. Znači, cijela igra će biti linerano provlaćenje kroz pukotine, skrivanje od orka i puzanje.

Nadam se da neće biti nikakvog fighta, jer osim što ti može prst odgristi, Gollum je nemoćan.

Ali ajde, živi bili pa vidjeli...

Nigdje ne piše da će karakterizacija likova u igri biti strogo vezana za film.
Veliko je pitanje što je Smeagol radio s Prstenom sve ono vrijeme dok ga je posjedovao, tu postoji veliki prostor u koji se može ubacit interesantna priča, a vezano za fight, možda nas iznenade opet sa nekim dodatnim konceptom vezanim za Nemesis sustav.

Nitko ne kaže da će pratiti film, ali ne kužim koncept osim šuljanja, penjanja i bježanja pred orkama.

Koliko vidim po ovom videu, to će biti vrijeme kada su ga zarobili i mučili.

Ali ako će biti nešto ala Plaguetale, moglo bi biti dobro.

E, idealna riječ, "meh"...

Stvarno razvijaju to već godinama, i onda topla voda s lukom...

ma nije mi taj Nacon neki dev za igre, samo štancaju, igram svaki wrc i ko fifa je, ništa novo osim imena vozača, generički sve

Ovo bi moglo biti ugodno iznenađenje, za razliku od LOTR tv serije.

Probati jogurt , pa ako unutra bude i komadića voća... zašto ne.

U prvim sekundama trailera me govor tog Golluma podsjetio na legendarnog mudokona Abea! A bome su i fizički i odjevno slični

Daj zamislite da ta igra na kraju košta 60-70€. Oh, wait... :D
Ali ovo baš grozno loše izgleda i ne mislim samo na grafiku.

Bome su se gameri dosta razmazili, sve više i više hoće skoro pa fotorealizam.
Meni "grozno" izgledaju igre sa zx spectruma i atarija

malo gempleja

i dalje mi je meh neznam :S

Stvarno ne vidim kojom to grafikom pravdaju tražiti rtx3080 kao preporučenu grafu. Ne radi se o razmaženosti, igra ako je dobra je nebitna grafika, ali ovakve smijurije sa gameplayom crasha bandicoota sa ps1 i ps2 grafikom.....smiješno.
Bilo je bolje kad su hardverski resursi bili jadni do ograničeni, pa su se ljudi morali malo potruditi. Ovako izbace poluproizvode pa nam preporuče da si uzmemo rtx 3080 i upalimo si dlss :D

Moram priznati da mi je sve više žao što imam moderne komponente, sve što valja bi lako mogao igrati na nekom RX470 starom 7 godina.
Fascinantno je na što to govno liči i kako sporo se istovremeno izvodi na rtx4090.

već je u igraoni ma kakvi nit probat,ova igra nije vrijedna denuva.

kako su dosadni svi sa tim debilnim isprikama, dojadilo više
