If a sound epitomized Rebellion’s 1999 FPS classic Aliens vs. Predator, it’s the terror-inducing ping of a motion tracker. Eyeballing your demise creeping closer upon a sensor screen occurred most often during the Marine campaign, and the same weighty pressure of panic from being hunted by something quite evolved into efficiently snuffing out life appears in Aliens vs. Marines, a recreation of AVP’s Marine missions glittering with acid-droplet-like beauty on CryEngine 3.

Author oldschool.Dave’s efforts so far look astounding: explosions deform around objects, injuries don’t magically heal themselves, alien encounters won’t be scripted, and quicksaving heads out the airlock. From the work-in-progress video, the mod perfectly captures the opening moments of a Marine barreling haphazardly down metallic corridors, shooting egg sacs, and flipping over chairs. And, of course, it’s exquisitely atmospheric.

Planned as a Crysis 2 mod for now, Aliens vs. Marines might sprout into a standalone release in the future. And yes, it’s exceptionally tough thinking up an egg-laying pun without tossing everyone’s cookies, so I won’t bother.

AVM Early Alpha Stage

UPDATE: AVM is not a MOD anymore. Now I'm using freeSDK and I started textures-replacement process (all Doom3 and AvP2010 textures will be replaced with my own textures, which are very close to the original txs. This process is very time consuming.. In these days I'm finishing Derelict level and I started to work on AI (facehuggers will be first), rigging and animating. I'm planning to post a new video with a FIGHT on january or february 2013. Please be patient.

nevjerojatno :( STALKER-e dok dočekamo, osjedit ćemo. Black Mesu smo čekali 8 godina i još nije kompletna priča, HL2-EP3 čekamo već 5 godina i još ni traga ni glasa... sad još jedan epic mod, opet čekaj...

Remake? Zasto? :(

Dozvolite da (zlo)upotrijebim ovu temu za rant: za koji kurac kreativni ljudi trose vrijeme na izradu rimejkova? Npr. oni koji su 8 godina radili Black Mesu? Pa sad ovo... zasto?

Ako su vec toliki fanovi AvP-a (a tko nije?) zasto umjesto toga ne naprave novu singleplayer kampanju? To bi bilo puno zanimljivije nama igracima, a i oni bi imali vecu sansu da ih na osnovu toga zaposli neka veca firma.

Potpuno se slazem.

Dok čekamo, mogao bih malo pročistiti kardiovaskularni sustav s AVP-om i marincem.

Ako su vec toliki fanovi AvP-a (a tko nije?) zasto umjesto toga ne naprave novu singleplayer kampanju? To bi bilo puno zanimljivije nama igracima, a i oni bi imali vecu sansu da ih na osnovu toga zaposli neka veca firma.

Tko je rekao da su kreativni? :D Za one koji imaju znanje ovakve stvari su "samo" dugotrajan i mučan fizički rad. Kreativnost = skoro nula.
