MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition Unlocking

It is a common misconception that MSI's 6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition cannot be unlocked because it's not a reference design.

The fact is, despite sporting a fully custom PCB with Military Class II components and the epic Twin Frozr III cooler it WILL unlock to 1536 shaders.

That said, it will only unlock because MSI are so confident about the capabilities of the card that they wrote a custom BIOS themselves.

You must use MSI's custom BIOS and NOT any reference BIOS/bios editor otherwise you are at high risk of killing the card

While between the GeForce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 6970, the former is clearly the faster graphics card, the two share a disputed lead over each other in their dual-GPU avatars, GeForce GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990, attributed to the HD 6990 sustaining clock speeds closer to those on its single-GPU implementation, and a better electrical design. While NVIDIA is fixing the electricals on a revised PCB design scheduled for release in the weeks to come, companies like ASUS are wasting no time in designing their own PCBs that can let the two NVIDIA GF110 GPUs sustain clock speeds identical to those on the single-GPU GTX 580. This would pose serious competition to the HD 6990. To ward that off, PowerColor is working on a new Radeon HD 6970 X2 graphics card, which has two AMD Cayman GPUs clocked on par with single-GPU HD 6970, and having the same overclocking headroom.

The new card from PowerColor is not just an overclocked HD 6990, but also has the overclocking headroom of the HD 6970. Further, unlike the HD 6990, it uses Lucid Hydra technology. The PLX-made, AMD-branded PCI-Express bridge chip is replaced by a LucidLogix-made bridge chip that gives each GPU PCI-Express 2.0 x16 bandwidth. Users can run the two GPUs in either AMD CrossFire (with Hydra features disabled), or enable Lucid Hydra Engine features, and let the two GPUs work in tandem with any other graphics card installed in the system, that uses GPUs of any make and generation.

The card draws power from three 8-pin PCI-E power connectors, power is conditioned by two sets of 6+2 phase VRM. Each GPU has 2 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface. The GPUs are said to have clock speeds equal to, or higher than those of the HD 6790, that's 880 MHz core, 5.50 GHz memory. The beast is cooled by a humongous triple-slot cooler that uses a 120 mm and a 140 mm fan, to cool dense aluminum fin array heatsinks. Display outputs are the same as HD 6970, that's two DVI, two mini-DP, and a HDMI.

Nadam se, ali i inace sam takvog misljenja, uzas su.
Mozda nisu toliko losi sto se tice kvalitete komponentli, ali brate mili pa daj malo trendove treba pratiti.
Pa sto ce mi kricavo crveni pcb s nekom rugobom u mat crnom kucistu? Pa tko to jos koristi?
Danas dobar izgled hladnjaka i nekakva luda naljepnica imaju vise utjecaja u odluci za kupovinu nego sam gpu...

Postojala je i 4850x2 pa je skoro nitko nije kupovao, za razliku od 4870x2.

procitao sam postove prije i ja imam EAH3870x2 1gb i jos sve sljaka iako vidim da ima potrebe za necim jacim naravno ... isao bi na neku 69xx e sad neznam procesor e 6850 3.0 dali je dovoljan ako neko ima prijedlog za neku kartu i savjet hvala unaprijed

Proc će biti dovoljan, ali teško da ćeš izvući max iz grafe s njim. Za to ti ipak treba više jezgri od 2 koliko sada imaš.

ma i razmisljao sam se za zamjenu ovog proca za neki quad uz nadoplatu ali to kod nas naci nema sanse ... a koliko i vidim tesko i novi quad proc naci za kupiti ..hebena dilema kad se nema love dovoljno :):)

MSI shines with the overall design, the nice but still shy factory overclock, the custom designed PCB has serious quality components harbored on it. The 'Military class' component usage is not a joke, MSI follows the specs and guidelines of military grade hardware, so when you peek at the Ferrite core chokes, Hi-c Capacitors and solid capacitors, you'll know they'll last a long time. It's as simple as that.

The new Twin Frozr revision III cooler is much better than it's predecessor, the Twin Frozer revision II. In idle the card is very silent, under full load .. well you can hear it but that's it really. Meanwhile at its baseline clock frequency we maxed out at 63 Degrees C, which is absolutely a lovely temperature.

Msi bi trebala imat 3 godine gare, a sapphirka 2, i hlađenje je definitivno way to go za msi. Dakle msi, još samo da nije toliko skuplja....

koja je razlika između PCI Express 2.1 16x i PCI Express 2.0 16x ???
i dali može grafa sa PCI Express 2.1 16x na maticnu koja ima PCI Express 2.0 16x ???????? :D

A to ti ništa ne znači, nek napišu i 10 kW kad ti konfa ne troši više od 400 W. Pa moja konfa ne troši 300 W, ova tvoja je malo jača u potrošnji, al ne previše...

Hm..ja imam HD6850 Toxic..max temp pod punim opterećenjem nije prelazila 73 stupnja..to je još opalo na 56 stupnjeva instalacijom Twin turba PRO...kupio je čim je izašla (bila par kn skuplja od obične) i radi besprijekorno cijelo vrijeme...nemoj generalizirat, nije dobro za zdravlje :)

Pozdrav!

Ima li netko ovu 6950, to je nova verzija Sapphirke sa 1 GB, uz nju se dobiva u budleu Dirt 3, no zanima me čisto ako ima netko da kaže par riječi jel zadovoljan?

U par reviewa su rekli kako ima jako dobro riješeno hlađenje, do čak 10 C razlike u odnosu na konkurenciju.

jel ko igra rift sa ovom karticom? meni su fps kaoticno slabi, ako sve pogasim dobijem 30ak fps u gradu, googlao sam ali nisam nista pametno pronasao, probao sam i sa radeon pro programcicem, ali bez razlike. ostale igre lete, ali rift mi fps zna past ispod 10 ako je malo vise ekipe, dok na otvorenom i bez ekipe oscilira i zna skociti i do 50ak fps. ali svejedno traljavo radi.
Jel ima tko kakav savjet kako bi se to dalo malo ubrzati? ili neke posebne drivere za preporuku?
