Koliko sam skuzio, ovo je opcenito za ram, ne samo ddr3.

Btw, uvijek nakon niske cijene, stize povecanje na duplo. :D

SK hynix Launches World’s First DDR5 DRAM

DDR5 is the next stage of platform memory for use in the majority of major compute platforms. The specification (as released in July 2020) brings the main voltage down from 1.2 V to 1.1 V, increases the maximum silicon die density by a factor 4, doubles the maximum data rate, doubles the burst length, and doubles the number of bank groups. Simply put, the JEDEC DDR specifications allows for a 128 GB unbuffered module running at DDR5-6400. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs should be able to go much higher, power permitting.

With DDR5, one of the major changes to help drive this is the way the memory is seen by the system. Rather than being a single 64-bit data channel per module, DDR5 is seen as two 32-bit data channels per module (or 40 bits in ECC). The burst length has doubled, meaning that each 32-bit channel will still deliver 64 bytes per operation, but can do so in a more interleaved fashion. That means the standard ‘two 64-bit channel DDR4’ system will morph into a ‘quad 32-bit channel DDR5’ arrangement, although each memory stick provides a total of 64-bits but in a more controllable way. This also makes doubling the data rate, a key element in increasing peak bandwidth, easier, as well as a finer-grained bank refresh feature, which allows for asynchronous operations on the memory while it is in use, reducing latency.

Voltage regulation is also being moved from the motherboard to the memory module, allowing the module to regulate its own needs. It also puts power management in the hands of the module vendor rather than the motherboard manufacturer, allowing the module manufacturer to size up what is required for faster memory – it will be interesting to see how different firmware cope with non-JEDEC standard gaming memory that will undoubtedly go above specification.

SK Hynix’s announcement today is that they are ready to start shipping DDR5 ECC memory to module manufacturers – specifically 16 gigabit dies built on its 1Ynm process that support DDR5-4800 to DDR5-5600 at 1.1 volts. With the right packaging technology (such as 3D TSV), SK Hynix says that partners can build 256 GB LRDIMMs. Additional binning of the chips for better-than-JEDEC speeds will have to be done by the module manufacturers themselves. SK Hynix also appears to have its own modules, specifically 32GB and 64GB RDIMMs at DDR5-4800, and has previously promised to offer memory up to DDR5-8400.

As part of the announcement, it was interesting to see Intel as one of the lead partners for these modules. Intel has committed (1 - 2) to enabling DDR5 on its Sapphire Rapids Xeon processor platform, due for initial launch in late 2021/2022. AMD was not mentioned with the announcement, and neither were any Arm partners. SK Hynix quotes that DDR5 is expected to be 10% of the global market in 2021, increasing to 43% in 2024.

Bok ljudi, zanima me ako netko zna da li ima igdje kupiti Corsair Dominator Platinum ( CMD8GX4M2B3000C15 ) ?
Do sada sam imao 4x4GB, jedan stick je odnia vrag tako da sam u potrazi za 1x4GB ili 2x4GB.
Surfam već satima i nema sreće, pa ako netko ima da prodaje . Spasio bi me.

U potrazi sam za 2666 DDR4 koji bi kombinirao sa i5-10400. Posto je ogranicen proc na 2666, planirao sam uzeti neku sa nizom latencijom.

DDR5 modules will be faster and hold more memory than DDR4 ever did. That's partly due to the shift of power management ICs and voltage regulating modules from the motherboard to the module itself, increasing the number of heat sources therefore generating more heat. Many believe DDR4 and older modules do not generate enough heat to justify the use of heatsinks, but because of some inherent changes of DDR5 memory, it looks like decent cooling solutions will be needed. One such difference is the move of power management ICs (PMIC) and voltage regulating modules (VRM) to the module, generating more heat compared to their predecessors. In Corsair's case, they will use its DHX technology, which uses fins to dissipate heat from the outer part of the chips, and another set of fins to cool the inner part.

This technology was first used in its Dominator DDR1 modules and has since been used on all other Dominator series modules until now. Now that DDR5 modules will include the PMIC and VRM on the PCB, these will need to be cooled. Corsair will probably take care of them by upgrading its DHX solution, but other manufacturers will also have to adapt their solutions to meet the new cooling needs. DDR5 memory is already out in the market, but there's an absence of platforms supporting it. That's expected to change later this year with the release of Intel Alder Lake a.k.a. 12th generation Core processors. Meanwhile, memory manufacturers have been showing off some specifications of this new type of memory, capable of reaching 12,600MT/s speeds and up to 128GB per module while operating at up to 1.6V.

128 gb ce ic na jedan slot. Cijene jos nisu poznate, a prvo ce izac neke "obicne" memorije, a tek kasnije (to moze bit za 3 mj a moze za godinu) sa vecim brzinama i nizim latencijama, odnosno neke extreme, clockerske, gamerske memorije...

Baš me zanima kolko ce mainstream procesori novih generacija max rama podržavati. Za sada je to u prosjeku 128gb.

Intel's 12th Generation Core CPUs are due to launch very soon, and with this will come a next-generation CPU platform and multiple new technologies for the PC marketplace. These technologies include DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 connectivity, and more widespread adoption for standards like Thunderbolt 4 and WIFI 6E. DDR5 memory support is a major feature of Intel's Alder Lake processors, offering PC users significantly more bandwidth than DDR4 memory modules. Beyond that, DDR5 is due to be more power-efficient and overclockable thanks to changes within JEDEC's DDR memory standards. In a recent blog post, MSI has confirmed something that we have long expected. At launch, MSI expects DDR5 memory to have a "50-60% price premium" over DDR4 memory. Furthermore, MSI doesn't expect DDR5 pricing to reach parity with DDR4 for "around two years".

DDR5 is being directly impacted by the current logistics issues due to lack of adequate Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) chips - which DDR5 has integrated in the DIMM proper. Currently, lead times for PMIC orders are estimated at 35 weeks, placing additional strain on system assemblers and DRAM manufacturers - and forcing delays and bottlenecks throughout the supply chain. Additionally, the fact that PMIC chips for DDR5 are ten times as expensive as equivalent DDR4 power management solutions doesn't bode well for future price action on DDR. Should this situation continue, higher prices for DDR5 modules are to be expected due to a deteriorating supply/demand ratio - particularly relevant if you're thinking about putting together a build based on Intel's Alder Lake platform.

With DDR6, the doubling continues and for DDR6 up to 12,800 MT/s are planned, for DDR6+ it should be 17,000 MT/s. Samsung is working with other JEDEC members from DRAM and SoC manufacturer circles to complete the DDR6 standard, which is currently scheduled for 2024. In the run-up, one of SK Hynix's chief engineers had indicated that it could take a little longer with this generation. Samsung now admits that it is still in the"early stages of development"of DDR6. The number of memory channels per module is to increase to four with DDR6 and thus be doubled again compared to DDR5. The number of banks also increases by a factor of two to 64, which in turn means four times that of DDR4.

Ja sam malo gledao na youtube i uspredba ddr4 i ddr5 i nije neka veća razlika u fps-ovima. Ako se radi o igri ispod 100 fps-a onda je razlika jedva 5-10fps ?
Jel to zbog latencije koje su dosta visoke ili što ? :wtf2:

Dobro vidim da se spominje bottlenecks kao razlog tomu, a koje je riješenje svemu tome da ima smisla prijeći na DDR5 jer ovako gledajući šta ja znam...
Ne vidim smisao prelaska s DDR4 na DDR5, ionako današnja računala ovisno o zahtjevnosti korisnika dovoljno je 8-16 i 32GB rama što DDR4 može ionako pružiti preko 4 slota.

According to a report by DigiTimes Asia, DDR5 memory prices are expected to plunge in the 2nd half of 2022 and continue to drop in 2023. DDR5 contract prices reportedly fell by 20% in July, and chip vendors have begun 'offloading' entry-level DDR5 chips, with consumer DDR5 module pricing at channel distributors falling below that of memory module manufacturers. DigiTimes say prices will continue to drop rapidly in the second half of 2022 and will hit the "sweet spot" in 2023. Falling DDR5 prices are also expected to boost the adoption rate of DDR5. This is on top of the rapid price reductions on DDR5 this year. Unfortunately, these sources don't say DDR5's sweet spot pricing, but we expect optimal prices to be close to current DDR4 pricing, if not identical. The timing of reduced DDR5 pricing couldn't be better. With the release of AMD's DDR5-only Ryzen 7000 series processors, DDR5 will become a high-demand item very soon. Lower prices will also help AMD stay competitive with Intel's cheaper DDR4-supporting Alder Lake and Raptor Lake alternatives.

Despite this, even Intel will also benefit from the DDR5 price reductions. Intel has already supported DDR5 for almost a year with Alder Lake, but due to pricing issues, most of Intel's user base has stuck with DDR4 instead of moving to DDR5. Once DDR5 demand increases and prices decrease, we can expect new Intel buyers to follow suit and purchase high-speed DDR5 memory kits instead of DDR4 kits. This will be optimal for Intel since its Alder Lake architecture can take advantage of DDR5's immense bandwidth upgrades in various workloads. Currently, DDR5 prices are already very low compared to where they were in late 2021. A baseline 4800MHz 32GB dual channel kit of DDR5 memory costs $149.99 at the time of this writing, with a higher frequency kit costing about as much as DDR4 was during the memory shortage a few years ago. For instance, prices for a 32GB 6000MHz kit with decently tight CL36 timings cost $239.99.

For reference, DDR5 pricing just nine months ago was double these prices at the very least, with high end kits going for upwards of $800-$900.

With sources saying prices will rapidly decline again as they did in 2021, we should expect DDR5 prices to continue to slide throughout 2023.

Meni je u banani što nema full ECC podrške za consumer DDR5. Pričalo se da će svaki DDR4 imati ECC pa od toga nije bilo ništa. DDR5 je dobio ECC ali navodno samo u modulima. Nema ECC do CPUa. Ako se dogodi bit-flip između CPUa i RAMa neće biti detektiran. Iako bolji i to nego da nema uopće samo ne znam kako će CPU detektirati bit flip u modulu?
