AMD has given us here at the AMDZone an unprecedented first look at the upcoming Bulldozer core, answering a lot of the miss information of there on the net today about the upcoming core. AMD was gracious enough to provide us with test boxes of the upcoming system, the chips are the Bulldozer A6 Stepping. One big feature, which improves performance a lot, is the ability to clock units at different clock frequencies (provided by flexible and efficient clock generators), to power off any idle subunit and to adapt sizes of caches, TLBs and some buffers and queues according to the needs of the executed code.

A power controller keeps track of load and power consumption of each of the many subunits and adapts clocks and units as needed. Further it increases throughput and power consumption of heavily loaded units as long as the processor doesn't exceed it's power consumption and temperature limits. If core 0 has not that many memory operations (less pressure on cache), the cache might be downsized to 8kB, 2-way by switching off 2 of the 4 ways it has. This way the power, the processor is allowed to use, will be directed to where it is needed and not to drive idle units. This is called Application Power Management as you might heard in some rumors on the net.

L0 cache: 4 kB (8-way associative) trace cache for each thread (or core)
L1 cache: 16 kB (4-way) data cache per core 1 cycle latency and 128 kB (4-way) instruction cache per module
L2 cache: 2 MB (8-way) per module (shared between two cores), full-speed
L3 cache: 8 MB shared between all cores, the L3 cache with a latency of 24 cycles will be able to serve up to 2 requests per (NB) clock cycle simultaneously and transfer data with 16B/clock to each of the reciepients.
L4 cache: AMD has also announced that all Black Editions and Opterons models will come with 32/64MB L4 cache made possible through chip stacking.But now a bit more about the details. The instruction fetch unit (IFU) fetches code from the L1 instruction cache (at 32 Bytes/cycle)

One thing that has been confirmed is that the Bulldozer core has been shown to be incredibly resilient during early manufacturing samples, so much so that AMD has told us that it is experimenting using the 28nm bulk silicon process with only small changes to the die. Although AMD has not confirmed that they will use half stepping, they didn’t deny it either. One of the first things that AMD confirmed for us was that the upcoming AM3+ will be the last of the pin grid array (PGA) and that all upcoming processor would be land grid array (LGA) more on that later. The current AM3 Phenom II only use 938 pins, the upcoming Bulldozer and Bobcat cores will use all 941 pins. One of the benifiets of the AM3+ is that all AMD chips will be able to use DDR3 1866 (PC3 -15000) for staggering 60000MB/s as well as having advanced powersavings.

Going forward AMD’s will implement AMD’s Future socket or AMD’s Fusion socket, (Socket AF1) a massive Socket 1591 pins sock that will be the first of AMD’s next generation sock supporting DisplayPort 1.2, Full PCI Express 3.0 32 lane, and the addition of two more DDR channels allowing for quad channel memory. The Bulldozer design offers two levels to dynamical adjust the power and subsequently increase the power and frequency of the remaining active cores. The processors will automatically disable the second idle core in the module and. It is activated when the operating system requests the highest performance state of the processor. The technology is completely hardware-based, and will work transparently on any operating system.

As you have seen AMD if firing on all cylinders. Not only are they dominating the field if just about every benchmark. If this is just a preview release and the final silicone is yet to be case the future does indeed look much brighter for AMD. Unfortunately we were not able to procure Intel fancy new Core i7 980X. Maybe with a site name AMDZone, they are scared that we would give a biased review, who can blame them? However with the trouncing that the Bulldozer is giving the i7 975 two extra cores / four threads won’t make much of a difference.

zvijeri od procesora i definitivno vrijedni čekanja! još da cijena ostane takva,oko 300$ iliti eura...

Još možda ispadne da je ništ-više nego iznimno detaljna prvoaprilska šala:), pošto su se diljem stranih foruma svi digli na zadnje noge.
Svejedno sam postal, pa ako ispadne zayebancija, lako se kad se pojave prave stvari vratimo i pogledamo kolko su nasrali, a kolko pogodili.:D

Biostar TA890FXE AM3 ploča

ASRock 880G Extreme3 AM3 ploča

ASRock is slated to announce it’s AMD 880G+SB850 board – ASRock 880G Extreme3 soon. This new board features the AMD 880G Northbridge and AMD SB850 southbridge. It also comes with an integrated graphcis Radeon HD 4250. The ASRock 880G Extreme3 also supports the upcoming Phenom II X6 Six-Core CPU. ASRock is also first to introduce the UCC function on the AMD 880G board (was first introduced on 890GX).

For overclocking, it supports Turbo50 technology which improves system performance by choosing the option within the BIOS. As for graphics, the board comes with an integrated AMD Radeon HD 4250 graphics, DX10.1, Shader Model 4.1, Max. shared memory 512MB graphics. It also supports ATi Quad CrossFireX, 3-Way CrossFireX, CrossFireX and Hybrid CrossFireX. ASRock radi sve ozbiljnije i kvalitetnije kartice. No vjerujem da niti on vise nece u toj klasi biti jeftilenac.

Cekajte ljudi, po ovim testovima su novi AMD procesori zgazili Intela po cijenama i preformansama. Jel se zna kad ce ih se otprilike mocu nabaviti kod nas i kakve ce bit cijene, da li bi se sad u 6. mjesecu kad budem uzimao konfiguraciju trebalo ici na Core i7 ili radije ovo, nekako mi je rizicno odma na procesore koji su tek dosli na trziste?

Ne treba se zavaravati i(li) fantazirati.:) AMD nije zgazil Intel po pitanju performansi i teško da se bude ta situacija dogodila u nekoj bližoj budućnosti. AMD ima procesore koji po sasvim prihvatljivoj cijeni nude i više nego vredu performanse, ali ako se u određenom cijenovnom rangu nađu AMD Athlon II i Phenom II, te Intelovi Core i3 ili Core i5, onda svaki prema svojim potrebama kupi ono kaj mu najbolje odgovara. Intel ima superiornu arhitekturu i AMD zasad nema ni jedan procesor koji bi se uspješno i u potpunosti nosil s Intelovim rješenjima.

Tako reci covjece, onda mozda ipak Intel, jos cu vidjet testove novih AMD-ova.

Pa AMD gazi Intel cijenama - do 1.300 kn ne vidim isplativ Intelov procesor. Preko toga AMD nema što tražiti. Jedva čekam novu ponudu.

Ja bi AMD quada za manje para svaki dan, a i cijena platforme se penje zbog dosta skupljih matičnih+obavezan DDR3 što otežava nadogradnju. AMD still rules.

ja nisam fan ni jednog ni drugog, do sad sam imao amd ali sad me bk stacu uzet, samo bi uzeo ono sta je bolje, to mi je jedino vazno, amd me privlaci zbog hexa core za jeftina pare pa smatram da ce za koju godinu kad bude programa koji ce koristit 6 jezgri amd davat bolje preformanse nego neki quad i7 a uostalom i amd procevi i ploče za njih su jeftinij od intela.

AMD se sa hexom može samo nadati da će prijeći performanse i5 750, i eventualno izjednačiti sa najslabijim i7 za profi stvari, u igrama je već tu negdje.

Bio jednom ... sada je nenabavljiv, bilo koji P2 X3 ;).
Do kraja mjeseca će biti predstavljen Thuban, kasnije njegovi X4 derivati i to je to do 2011.
Ja osobno čekam Llano ako bude za desktop segment ... ne kupujem ništa do onda :)

Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 ploča

Asus is readying one of its first motherboards based on the AMD 880G chipset, the M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3. This model comes in two variants, with or without USB 3.0 support, designated with the - USB3 suffix in the model name. It is a socket AM3 motherboard, supporting the upcoming line of Phenom II X6 and Phenom II X4 T series processors. The CPU socket is powered by a 10-phase VRM, it is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots for dual-channel memory. Even as ATi CrossFire is not part of the 880G's feature-set since it won't support an external PCI-Express lane switch like the 890GX, Asus found a way around and provided a second PCI-Express x16 slot, only that this one is electrical PCI-Express 1.1 x4, wired to the SB800 southbridge chip.

The 880G embeds an ATi Radeon HD 4250 IGP with 128MB of DDR3 sideport memory. It connects to its display with DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. The board supports Asus' Core Unlocker feature that attempts to unlock disabled cores on some processors. Other expansion slots include one PCI-E x1, and three PCI. The southbridge gives out six SATA 6 Gb/s ports, five of which are internal, and one eSATA. An additional VIA-made controller drives an IDE connector. Other connectivity options include a number of USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports on the USB3 variant, 8-channel HD audio, FireWire, and gigabit Ethernet. The new boards will be released in a few weeks' time, probably targeting the sub-$150 price points.

evo ga 890GX/SB850 blok diagram, 880G/SB850 je isti ko ovaj jedino sto sluzbeno ne moze razdvojit 1x16 na 2x8...

@ McG no hard feelings ;) znam da ti samo prenosis novosti i svaka ti cast na trudu... ovo se odnosi na "novinare" sa fudzille, techpowerupa, ocwokrkbencha i ostalih news portala...

Pokvareni telefon.:) techPowerUp prenosi vijest s kineske stranice i na kraju se nekaj krivo protumači ili prevede. Još kad se k tome doda da većini tih novinara, engleski nije baš tečan i veselja ne nedostaje. Makar nije problem, na kraju si (ako se uopće odluče za kupnju) ljudi lako na službenim stranicama proizvođača sve pregledaju kak spada, pa nemaju brige oko ovih greški.

Ali za manje para od Intelovog, a budimo realni većina ih kupuje zbog igara i "multimedije"! Čak štoviše, mislim da se bum počastil kakvim X6 uskoro ili čekat X8.:beer:

Pa ne bih baš rekao da je i5 750 toliko moćan, na stock frekv. je malo jači od Phenoma II X4, negdje čak i slabiji.
Clock za clock, Intel je brži, ali je i skuplji i to je već ulazak u sferu overclocka, a tu se toga dosta mijenja u slaganju konfe.
Pričekajmo pošteni usporedni test AMD X6 vs. Core i5/i7, pa ćemo vidjeti što je AMD napravio:goood:.

Jedva čekam! U ovom segmentu se dvije kompanije bore za svakog kupca, a ne kao sad sa grafičkim karticama.

Doduše, 6 jezgri nemaju realno neke prednosti ispred 4 u multimediji i igrama, vidjelo se sa i7 980, tako da neće biti revolucija. Ali, malo pomalo, evoluira. Sve pozitivno!

Vidjet će se odmah gdje će se nekom bechmarku svidjeti tih 6 jezgri i tu će AMD tražiti priliku.
Za igre čisto sumnjam da će mu nešto značiti, barem ove sadašnje.
Meni su i 4 jezgre overkill al eto, ispravne su pa neka ih.

From technical specifications, AMD 880G pairs up with South Bridge SB850; it supports HT3.0, integrated Radeon HD 4250 graphics core supports DirectX 10.1, UVD2 and other specifications, core frequency is 560MHz just between 785G and 890GX. The motherboard also supports PCI 16X mode PCI-E 2.0 graphics card and Asymmetric Hybrid CrossFire by AMD DX10.1 graphics card.

Isuse! Izgleda da se opasno približavamo 10GHz granici.

Njušim još jedan uspjeh AMD-a. Intel svoj 6-core CPU prodaje na ludo skupih 999$, plus što uz njega ide i skupa matična sa skupom DD3 memorijom, sve skupa jako skupo dok s druge strane ovaj Thuban bude išo i na dobar dio AM2+ ploča s DDR2 memorijom od po stotinjak baksa.:) Intel će ostati performance leader, ali mislim da će u srednjem segmentu AMD napraviti dobar posao s ovim procesorima.

Za grafiku i rendanje ne postoji overkill. Ne moras probat nista rendati, ali samo opali screenshot ovog ekrana, pejstaj ga u Photoshop, uzmi alat prst, stavi mu 100 piksela i pocni mrljati. U roku od 10 sekundi, kasnit ce za tvojim pokretima barem 4 sekunde. Na nevidjeno tvoje konfiguracije. Dakle, Phenomi X6 trebali bi se pojaviti krajem mjeseca u ducanima?
Navodno bude cifra nekih 2.000 kn za Phenom II X6 1075T Black Edition? (295$), a 1055T 200$ (kazu 1.400 - 1.500 kn)?

Zanimljiv clanak na bit-tech-u. Naime rijec je o otkljucavanju zakljucanih jezgri na MSI 890GXM-G65 ploči. Ne bi bilo nista cudno da, orginalno, ploča nije podrzavala "Core Unlocking".

Another good thing about this update to the 890GXM-G65 is that despite previously saying it would require a PCB revision change, MSI has managed to update the board without one - this means that there's no need to wait for old revisions to leave the channel before buying.

We applaud MSI's BIOS hack ingenuity. As far as we know the hack requires MSI to use old or modified EC codes from previous AMD southbridges, as AMD has not provided them to unlock each CPU individually. As it stands MSI has most bases covered with its internally confirmed list of supported CPUs:

Znaci nikaki jumperi, swichevi, dodatni kontroleri - samo BIOS update i otkljucava:), što vjerovatno znaci da ce i ostali proizvodjaci ponovo omogucit "Core Unlocking".:D

Asus will also unlock two AMD Zosma core - Nisam ljubitelj Asusa, ali vjerujem da ce i drugi proizvodjaci ovo omoguciti.:goood:

Već su omogućili. Svi vodeći proizvođači nude obilje AMD 800 baziranih ploča, koje imaju sve kaj treba za pokušaj otključavanja.

Da evo i ASRock glede navedenih opcija.

Norwegian retailer ships AMD six-core processors

Well, rest assured someone made a black-list at AMD, damn that's bold. A Norwegian retailer started shipping Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition processors to customers.
And that's a big no-no as the processor is to be launched next week (we know as we have them).

The retailer is known as Amentio.no. At present, it has only the Phenom II X6 1055T and the high-end 1090T Black Edition up for order, but their prices seem to be more than just convenient.
The roughly hundred 1055T chips that the retailer has in stock are priced at only €197, which is very low for hexacore parts, at least compared to Intel's $999 Gulftown.
The price becomes even more enthralling when considering that a frequency of 2.8GHz is quite reasonable, especially since it can go up by 500MHz with Turbo Core.

The 1090T Black Edition is, as consumers know, the higher-end processor, with a clock of no less than 3.2GHz.
Multiplied by six, and boostable via the same Turbo Core technology, this processing power seems to get somewhat close to what Intel's enthusiast CPU can do.
Its price, however, is lower, at only €288.

Well if you are stuck in Iceland due to the no-fly zone ... better detour and make a little trip ;)
